Meningococcal prophylaxis
If the referring hospital has not notified Public Health, we will need to ensure that this happens.
Public Health will undertake contact tracing and notify the relevant primary care services of the individuals who need prophylaxis.
Public Health have arranged that parents/guardians who are 'resident' in the hospital are able to go to A & E for their prescription. Public Health will notify A & E who they need to prescribe for and they ask that a nurse on the unit ring A & E to notify them of the time the parents will attend for their prescription.
Meningococcal prophylaxis for parents and relatives should not be prescribed or issued directly from PICU
