Nursing secondments
These are available to all nursing staff that may care for a child that is critically ill. These may be A&E staff, Adult Intensive Care staff or Paediatric Nurses. They are currently provided free of charge.
The regional training and development nurse works alongside all visiting staff and if patient numbers allow we care for a critically ill child providing hands on care. Topics covered are resuscitation including paediatric basic life support and practical skills both during stabilisation and in providing advanced care.
The day is meant to increase confidence, competence and enhance the communication between teams. It is not meant as a replacement for a course or to provide an expert practitioner.
